Having taken early retirement from my Registered Nursing post within the NHS in October 2014, I now work for myself. Using the skills and knowledge gained over a 20 year career, I am training manager for Affordable First Aid Training Ltd, directly involved in delivering high quality teaching/training in First Aid and healthcare related courses for a variety of clients, including Dental Surgeries, Prisons, Care Homes, NHS Trusts, Nursing Agencies and Private Ambulance Services; Delivering QCF and other accredited courses (providing IQA services for First Aid Courses) alongside bespoke courses upon request. I am also involved in providing Event cover for a variety of sports and social gatherings, particularly festival cover and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight medic cover. Prior to this I have 17 years post-registration experience within the Emergency and Trauma Operating Theatres, leading to a Sister’s (theatre team leader) post in 2005. I possess excellent communications and presenting skills. I am experienced in driving innovation and change management within the NHS, an effective time manager, able to work to deadlines without compromising quality. I believe that learning should be fun and challenging. More recently, I have also been working closely with a Private Ambulance Service as a Compliance Manager (2 days per week) to help ensure they meet the requirements of the CQC, East Midlands Ambulance Service, East of England Ambulance Service and other external regulatory bodies, by assisting them to achieve and maintain compliance and prepare for inspections. I also deliver annual CPD training to Ambulance crews and ancillary staff and assist in the delivery of induction training when required.
